Walled Garden Ramble

Join one of our gardeners for a guided walk to explore the 'seen and unseen areas' of the 6 1/2 acre walled gardens. A great chance to find out more about what the gardens used to grow in the past and how the current project to restore the gardens to their former glory is progressing.

Booking is recommended as these tours are popular. Meet in the entrance to the Walled gardens. Each tour will last approximately one hour. Well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome.

Tuesday 7th July - 10am - FREE

Walking Women

Do you love walking but don't like to venture too far alone? Would you like to be sociable while enjoying the spectacular beach at Wells-next-the-Sea? If so, come and join Holkham’s monthly walks. Meet at the Beach Café, normal parking charges apply. Each walk will last approximately 1.5 hours. Well behaved and sociable dogs on leads are welcome on the walk.

Wednesday 8th July - 10am to 4pm

Macro Photography Workshop – Plants Up Close

This one-day specialist course offers the aspiring photographer the opportunity to capture the amazing variety and colour of plants and flowers in close-up.

During the day you will be escorted by professional photographer, Nigel Downer who will, through one-to-one tuition, show you how to use design and compositional skills to record dramatic images of the intricate structure and detail of plants using close-up techniques. This workshop is suitable for a range of levels from the beginner to the more experienced photographer. You will need your own camera and a lens that will allow you to get close to the subject.

Summer Tours of the Private Gardens at Holkham  Hall

Join our Deputy Landscape Manager, Jonathan Taylor, to enjoy a wonderful opportunity to view the private gardens surrounding Holkham Hall, which are normally closed to the public. See the spectacular arboretum with its many unusual and rare specimen trees resplendent at the height of summer. Booking is essential as these tours are popular. Meet in the courtyard by the ticket office. Each tour will last approximately one hour. We are sorry, but dogs are not permitted on the tours. We suggest you wear suitable footwear for walking in parkland and come prepared for all weathers.

Tuesday 21st July - 10am

National Nature Reserve Guided Walks

Join us for a series of short, gentle walks around the Holkham National Nature Reserve taking in the diverse habitats and seasonal highlights of the wildlife. From nesting lapwing in the spring to pink footed geese and fungi in the autumn, whatever the time of year there’s always lots to see.

The walk will last for approximately 2 hours. We meet and start at Lady Anne’s Drive, Holkham Beach. Due to the walks being wildlife centered, unfortunately dogs are not able to join us.

Parking is available at Lady Anne’s Drive where standard parking charges apply.

Outdoor Theatre – The Importance of Being Earnest

What better setting to enjoy a summer evening's theatre than our beautiful walled gardens. Oscar Wilde’s ‘trivial comedy for serious people’ comes to Holkham. Performed by the talented LAMDA, this classic production of satire and wit at its finest will be recreated for an exceptionally enjoyable evening’s entertainment.

Park Discovery Day – Pond Dipping

Join our education team in Holkham park for some hands on, fun family activities exploring the wildlife you can find here. Fancy a dip? Have a go at pond dipping and discover what lies beneath the water in Holkham lake.

Tickets are available on the day at £2.50 per child. No need to book, just drop in.


Saturday 25th to Sunday 26th July - 9am to 6pm

Holkham Country Fair

The fair ensures two days of fun and interest for all ages, thanks to a full programme of events and displays in the Grand Ring, from morning to evening. More than 200 trade stands and a large variety of showground events complete the mix. One of the themes of the fair is the celebration of the English countryside, its work and its leisure, its conservation, its traditions and its evolution. It is fitting that this event is held at Holkham, an estate steeped in the history of our nation, but with its own history of a modern and progressive approach; from Coke of Norfolk in the 18th century, to the very different challenges of the 21st.

Friday 31st July - 7pm

Diva Opera - Le Nozze di Figaro

Join Diva Opera, one of the country’s foremost chamber opera companies for their magnificent performance of The Marriage of Figaro. Mozart’s ever popular opera is filled with sexual intrigue, mistaken identities and unexpected revelations. Be whisked through the events of one crazy day as Figaro, Count Almaviva’s valet, tries to wed his beloved Susanna, the Countess’s maid, before the philandering Count can bed her first. Servant and master go head to head, and even the Countess herself has to intervene when she hears of her husband’s desires. Or is she involved in a liaison of her own? Filled with glorious music, this comic masterpiece delivers an ageless message of love and forgiveness.
