A luxurious property with a warm coastal feel that comfortably sleeps six, is child friendly and equipped to the highest standards; a real home from home.
Where to find it
Kittiwake, named after the seagull that soars over the North Norfolk coast, is situated down a narrow drive off the main coastal road from Hunstanton to Wells-next-the-Sea. Its peaceful spot provides a tranquil stay whilst still being within walking distance of village amenities and even the beach. There is ample parking and west-facing garden with large sun terrace, BBQ and outdoor furniture.
What to expect
There’s something special about this place; you feel it as soon as you walk in. It was built with holidays in mind by owners who genuinely care about providing the best service they can. With a ‘would we be happy with this’ philosophy, only the highest quality items made it through the door: solid wood furniture, luxurious linen and stylish kitchen equipment. You’ll also find space and lots of it; plenty of room for six adults to lounge freely and not be under each other’s feet. With floor to ceiling glass doors, which can be opened up in summer for access to the terrace, this open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area is a wonderful communal space that lets the sunlight beam in.
With three bedrooms, one downstairs with wet room – perfect for the less able – this place can cater for all types of guest. Rooms are decorated beautifully with a tasteful coastal feel. I particularly liked the finishing touches of colourful bunting above the beds and ‘I do like to be beside the seaside’ doorstops adding to the holiday vibe. There’s even a tide clock in the hall and buckets and spades ready for the off.
Children are most welcome
Often when you find a property of this standard it comes with a ‘no kids’ label rule and I always think it’s a shame. So imagine my delight on discovering that little ones are not only welcome here, they’re considered equally as important as the adults. High chair, travel cot and stair gate; fire guard, plug covers and night lights - tick the lot, plus a huge selection of games, activities and DVDs. You’ll also find a guest folder purposely for kids. With ways to spend their pocket money, good places for building sandcastles and quayside crabbing, it’s sure to make all party members feel included. What a refreshingly lovely idea.
Home from home
You can always get a good feel for a place by reading the guest book. Along with the expected comments of ‘spotlessly clean’ and ‘wonderfully personal’, I found a line that summed up the place: ‘the only thing that would improve it would be a permanent stay option’. I would certainly down tools and move here. Kittiwake: you’ll never want to leave!
