USER REVIEW by Dave Roland, Downham Market
The Jenyn’s arms is my local pub so some would say I’m biased but even though the front could do with a spruce up, I still think it has a certain something that makes it special and this is namely its location right by the sluice. Open water is always a joy to be near and with boats moored all around it provides a perfect backdrop to sit and enjoy a pint by. In summer the outside is always packed despite there being ample tables and chairs. With fairy lights on in the evening al fresco by moonlight is nice too.
The actual pub is typically country inn in appearance with an open fire and low beamed ceilings. There’s a conservatory and separate overspill room with bar stools and pool table.
The food is a typical pub menu of burgers and fish and chips etc. Plates are piled high and it is good value for money. For me though, the view speaks for itself – a cool breeze over the rippling waters and watching the ducks go by is my favourite way to drink a pint of local ale.
