Riverside gastro pub with contemporary decor, modern cuisine and stunning views of the Norfolk Broads – large sunny decked terrace and friendly service guaranteed.
Where to find it
This fully refurbished bar and restaurant can be found just two miles from Norwich driving down a picturesque country lane or arriving via the Broads waterways and mooring up out the front by the decked veranda. There is also a handy boating shed next door that sells basic maintenance items and provisions if you’re on holiday on the river.
What to expect
Expect great things for you’ll not be disappointed. The place has been completely kitted out by owner, Lee Webb, and the decor is just the right level of sophistication and comfort. Solid oak tables and leather high backed chairs; atmospheric lighting and approachable friendly staff make this place special. Service with a smile whether you’re a regular local or one stop tourist; you’re made to feel welcome and part of the hub.
The location is idyllic; not much can beat chilling out here in the sunshine on a summer’s day, on the large decked veranda watching the activity of boats going by. A cold pint of Nelson’s Revenge and a grilled chicken, blue cheese and bacon ciabatta sandwich will go down a treat, or perhaps you’d prefer an afternoon tea. Evening meals bring their own slice of magic as you become mesmerised by a sunset over the river. It’s Norfolk scenery at its best.
Eat, drink and be entertained
The food here is exceptional and reasonably priced too. Everything is freshly prepared and nothing is too much trouble. Daily specials use seasonal ingredients in new and creative ways, and there’s a unique Young Person’s Menu that goes down well. Couples, families, business people and even “wellie walkers” are all welcome in the mix. Add an international wine list, local ales and champagne by the glass or bottle and you’re in for a treat. You can reserve a personal seating choice too which is advisable during peak season. Look out for themed evening events as well such as wine tasting, mussels night and a murder mystery to spice things up. This pub has an effortlessly warm and welcoming vibe and is a place you often think about, long after you’ve left. A haven you’re bound to return to again and again.
Water’s Edge is open seven days a week from 11am. Food is served Monday to Friday 12-2.30pm and 6-9.30pm, Saturday 12noon-5pm and 6-9.30pm, and Sunday 12noon-7pm for roasts. Keep an eye out on our Events pages for upcoming themed occasions.
